We are back from “The Dead Zone” are now in Prince George BC.

Thanks again to Dean for filling in. We may want to enter more dead zones to have Dean do our posts…

I’m the one being sick, not Steve – he has been the one putting up with me. I have the classic soar throat, to head cold, to chest cold thing going on… It now has settled in my chest which gives me some great coughing attacts.

Plenty of rest would help, but what do you do when your on vacation, stay another night in a hotel? Naw, you have to keep moving. Unfortunately, the towns up along the Alaskan Highway close up early and open late, so I miss out on trying to get some drugs to help mitigate the cold.

This morning we left the Bell II on the Cassiar Highway. It was cold and it was drizzling for the next 150 miles till we hit 16 junction to take east to Prince George. Along the Cassiar I was able to see one bear scamper up the embankment.

At the junction we topped off our tanks and had breakfast and headed east. As soon as we got on the road, a fox appeared to scaveger some unfortunate animal on the road.

The rest of the day it started to clear slowely. We would continue to hit small showers here and there. Biggest problem for me today was staying awake. I was a bit over medicated from the night before (nyquil, some sleep aids from Steve, Day Quil in the morning, some asprin, ect… it caught up to me as I was sleepy all day.

We plugged along, stopping every 60 miles, then every 30 miles and finally we pulled into Price George at 7:30.

We noticed that we will need to get some new rear tires as we do not have much tread on them, so you slueths out there can try and determine when and where we get our tires….

Ok, short post because I’m told to get some sleep…

I;m too tired to do a spell check, so please excuse my spelling…

Glad to hear you're being safe & smart, sorry you're still ailing. I could spend my time figuring out where you guys are staying, but I put my sleuthing to work in a useful way. Not much to find up where you are. I checked Prince George, and a little town further south, Quesnel. The other 'sizeable' towns are Edmonton (out of your way) or Vancouver – very far. So here's the info:

Good luck! Get some MEDS & stay safe!! Big Steve, My heart goes out to you having to put up with a sick, whiny Valentine. It's not pretty.

Me again. After I posted last night (and shut down) I settle in to watch a show before bed and Dennis has on the Ice Road Truckers (History Channel). And where are they this week? THE DALTON HIGHWAY!!! A month ago I would have whined for him to change the channel, but we got to see the road in the winter and hear all the danger/adventures of the guys (and one woman) who drive the big rigs. They're hauling pipe and other things for Carlile Transportation Systems. I guess the whole season 3 is devoted to this road. It was pretty cool

I set my tevo to ice road truckers. cant wait to see what it is aboutt

Jimmy: I'm sorry to hear you caught a cold, next time don't get so close to the tourists, stick with the locals. Sounds like you need to do the untinkable and take a day off, might as well, as we are some how managing to keep the lights on here at the rnch in spite of your absence!

    • jimmyv says:

Should have stuck to the hard stuff to. Steve never got sick – need to follow his lead. And Dan, with all that extra cost cutting measures you sent me via email, I'm sure those lights will stay on longer now – I don't know how you do it! 🙂
See you in a few and thanks for posting!

  • janniev says:

You haven't stopped for the night yet – I don't think. But you seem to be farting around in Bellingham….but I can't find any motorcycle shops near your location…where do you buy tires, anyway? Walmart? 🙂 Just kidding. You sure made it back to the US quick – I didn't think you'd be this far south already. I have to agree with Dan, above – take a day off and get some rest. Steve can sight-see & take lots of pictures and you can sleep. Which is what I'm going to do. I'll check back in the morning. More clues…

I've been watching your progress all day – you're making good progress. The road home from vacation is always a little sad. It occurred to me that you weren't looking for sleuths to FIND you the tire places, you were issuing a challenge for us to determine when/where you finally do get your tires. Sorry for taking up comment space with extraneous info. I always check on you during my first cup of coffee, so my brain doesn't always work. I'll check back later.
