Our Trip this year is being tracked by SPOT SATELLITE MESSENGER, a device that transmits it’s GPS coordinates every 10 minutes to a website. The device also has some nice features because you have several differenet types of messages. One of them is a 911 service – if you need immeditate help (such as an accident or medical emergency), you send a 911 signal and the service will immediately send out help to your location. Another type is the “OK” message to let predetermined email reciepents that you are OK.
The beauty of this device is you can track our trail. The most accurate information is through this link – SPOT TRACKER (which also has a link on the front page of this Blog), but we will be testing out three other types of maps and services that feed off the same info.
To use the maps, just use your mouse and you can drag ithe map around. You can change the map type (map, sat, hybrid) to your preference. You can also use the + and – for zooming.
Now if I can just get the weather info to update based on our current location…..
