(this one post dissapeared, so here is another redo)
gas stop-San Luis Obispo 150 miles
Once we pasted Salinas, traffic was clear and we average about 85.
tried to take a reflection shot, but o didn’t time it right ..
Saw a fire off to our right that was still burning.

Food break. 150 miles
Ok slueths, guest where we took a break at. We r ahead of sched, do we stop for a snack to let rush hour go by…

Gas stop. Garlic capital of the world-Gilroy,CA. Another 150 miles. Looped by San Fran – cool weather still with big gusts on 680 cut over to 101.

Time for some olives stuffed with garlic

First gas stop, 127 miles.
Traffic light but lots of trucks to pass. Weather cool, BS in shorts with jacket,, JV with sweatshirt and blue jeans. Flat land here, only excitement is watching crop planes dusting. Now to deceide to stay on 5 or head to 101….

8:04 AM: Dean here.

Like an ol’ plough horse at the end of the day, the boyz are heading for the barn.  The closer they get, the faster they want to go.  After three weeks of incredible “Great Northwest” road adventures, a bagillion gas stations, dozens sleezy motels and cholesterol infested mom’s restaurants … they wanna sleep in their own beds tonight!

From Redding to Lake Forest its approx 600 miles.  I-5 all the way down is the fastest way.  If they stop every 100 miles and do an hour lunch, they’ll get into LA traffic around 8PM (after the evening’s monster rush hour).  A potential problem if they stay on I-5 is tonight’s Dodger game traffic.

JimmyV’s new ability to post to the blog from iPhone is fantastic.  I just downloaded the app from iTunes so I can use it.

Last night JimmyV said hotel internet was down.  He was able to get on for a moment the apparently it was not enough to post.

10:09 AM Update:  They’re heading to San Francisco and 101!  Probably because the San Juaquin Valley, I-5 through Stockton, Fresno, Bakersfield, temperatures will be in in the 100F today.  By heading to the coast the temps should be in the high 70F.  101 will be cooler, slower, more scenic, and more traffic.

Getting ready to roll. Should be last day. Internet was done last night

Down the pass from Shata. Weather is clear and hot and lots of truck. Stop to gas and determine what is next. Stop or go.

Another 100, quick rest and more suntan lotion at the Weed rest area with Mt. Shasta in the background
