Dean again. Talked to the boyz last night on Skype and briefly this morning.
They had a tough day yesterday morning coming out of Tok with very heavy rains and bone chilling cold. So cold that both commented it was colder than any part of the Dalton Hwy/Haul Rd. This combination of near freezing cold and rain causes the inside of the helmet faceplate to fog instantly. The only way to clear the inside of fog is to open the shield but the driving rain kept their speed in the 40’s. Their progress was slow until it warmed up in the afternoon and the sky’s cleared.
Last night in Whitehorse, JimmyV had a tough night with his cold. He not get much sleep and was packed and ready to go at 6AM! They decided on Option 2, south on the Cassiar. Their goal tonight was to stopped at the same place they stayed on the way up … Bell II Resort. They had good things to say about this resort. There is no phone or internet service here. Bell II Resort is 155 miles from Kitwanga/Yellowhead Hwy.
JannieV said the blog posts were not working. I went back on, looked around and found I had left the "Edit" mode on overnight. This should fix it and open the ability to post.
well hope all has gone well today…..spot makes it look like you have made progress….. doesn't say you had problems so that is good news…. going out with the girls tonight, bacholarette party…. so we might need the spot more that you….. hope not… talk to ya soon….
too bad…. nothing worse than being cold and wet when you don't feel good. all that adds up to not too much fun. i hope the weather clears for today and you can make the progress that you want.
Thanks, Dean, back in business!! I'm so proud of myself – I was able to put my sleuthing talents to work and get word to Dean. Enough about me, sorry to hear Jim's still not feeling well. Doesn't sound like yesterday's ride was much fun – the first part anyway. Looks like you're on the road today already. Happy trails – be safe!
This is my post from yesterday morning – seems it stuck around on my computer but did not post.
Thanks for the new posts. Even disjointed its a great story. We'll all be waiting for additional details. Hope you are both feeling better. I see by SPOT that you are just passing out of the Yukon Territories – starting the trip home. What will we do without our morning Alaskan fix? Is someone else planning a trip with blog and SPOT? And Dean – your adventure was even more dramatic than the boys!!! Were you able to fix your bike in Deadhorse so you could ride back or did you have to ship your bike home? – Also enjoyed the youtube video from Allan. We finally got some sunshine here in RI – so I'm off. I'll check in again tonight. And tonight I see that this never posted. I see you guys have stopped for the night. Hope all is well.
GLAD YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO I WILL ADD NEW PHOTOS AS THEY COME IN LOOK FOR CUT 3. CUT 2 I LIGHTENED UP SOME OF THE DARK PHOTS. I WILL POST CUT 3 MONDAY . STEVE AND JIMMY V BE SAFE.
oh good!! looking forward to that!!
I can't figure out where Kitwanga/Yellowhead Hwy is, so I can't tell if you're almost there or not. Looks like you're making good progress, though. Almost to Prince George as I write this. Had to check in on you before retiring for the night. "See ya" tomorrow – Safe Home.
Looks like you made some progress today. Hope the weather was better for you, can't wait to hear your personal account. I have really enjoyed reading the comments from others and of course Deans. Don't mean to brag, especially if your weather didn't cooperate with you, but we had a beautiful, picture perfect day in Northern Illinois. Took some time to work on the garage organization a bit, and when down to the pistol range. i wish you could have seen Barbara with the night court judge. I think it scared her a bit….. funny! Take care with the travels, enjoy!
