11:10 PM:  JimmyV and Big Steve are at Coldfoot Camp.

They’re sitting back, having a brewski, smokin’ cigars, eating a late dinner then …  sleep.

Weather was good all the way from Yukon River Camp.  JimmyV said they took their time and rode with minimal cold weather clothing.

They plan to start early – 6AM or so.  They have 239 miles to go tomorrow which includes the infamous “Atigun Pass”.  At 5PM tomorrow evening, they plan to swim in the Arctic Ocean.   Yikes!!!!  Some folk call it the “Polar Bear” Club but I think it has something to do with the “Blue Ball’s” Association.

my thoughts and prayers will be with them today, tell me if i am wrong, i thought the original plan was to be in fairbanks today? Are they a day or two ahead of schedule?

Funny story about how Deadhorse got its name, maybe you already know the story…. i didn't
Some theorize that a miner rode a horse to this area, and decided to stay. The lack of fillies and the abundance of mosquitoes drove the horse insane. (Hence "Crazyhorse Hotel"). But, soon, a doe-eyed caribou caught the horse's fancy, and a "meaningful relationship" between the two delighted the horse. ("Happy Horse Hotel" might be in tribute to the pair). And then, the brutal, merciless winter hit, and the poor horse couldn't survive. Yup, Deadhorse. Nice theory, but I don't believe it.

I was up WAY PAST my bedtime last night keeping tabs on you two – but it was worth it to know you're safe and on your way. As kreegy said, we don't need anymore drama! Have a safe trip to the Arctic – turn that Atigun Pass into Attaboys Pass. And take an extra dip into the Arctic for me, I'm right with you on that one! I, too, anxiously await the pics.

Glad the remainder of the ride to Coldfoot was problem free. Hope you both had a good rest. Us East Coasters are waiting for our morning Alaskan fix. Based on Spot you haven't started moving yet – it's almost 11 am here. Have a fantastic ride up to Deadhorse (enjoyed the Deadhorse "facts", kreegy6). Swim? Yes, get your feet wet – but swim? Watch out for those killer whales. Don't want them to mistake you for a seal. Our spirits are with you all the way.

Interesting, I`ll quote it on my site later.

Hahhaha love the Artic Club comment followed by the "other club" comment! Glad to hear everyone is ok! Who would ever name a place "DeadHorse"?
